Why I am a Republican - Kaye Feller

republican

At the February, 2023 meeting, President Kaye Feller spoke to members about giving some thought to Why You Are a Republican.

As Republicans, we should have a 7-second response, a 70-second response and a 7 minute answer as to why we are a Republican. As Republican women, each of us is an ambassador. Our message provides an opportunity to share the principles of our great nation and the work we do to preserve our freedoms.

Why I am A Republican

I have been a Republican for as long as I can remember. I joined my county Republican party at 18, 3 years before I could vote (21). I was not a Republican because my parents were as I am not sure if they belonged to either party or simply voted for the best candidate regardless of party.

I understood, even at that time, the differences in Republican and Democrat philosophy related to taxation, the importance of hard work and being self-sufficient. I watched first-hand people I had known for many years stop working so they could receive "free" medication and medical care, as well as money to live on. Welfare became much easier to receive and thus the process was immediately abused. I knew then that there was no free "lunch" and I was paying for these people's Free benefits.

As a life-long active Republican, I have met so many wonderful like-minded people. I observed that these people are generally thoughtful and they are clearly able to espouse their beliefs as well as live by their principles. I have also observed that conservatives are generally friendlier in any group setting and are usually happy and fun to be around. They are typically polite and generous. More importantly they believe in the principles that our country was founded on, that allowed the US to come the greatest nation on the face of the earth.

We also believe in God and life, especially for those who cannot defend themselves. We believe in letting Americans live their lives and raise their families as they see fit with the freedom along the way, to be as successful as they can be. We believe in equal justice for all. We believe in freedom of speech and religion. We believe that all men are created equal.
I have had the privilege, along the way, to listen to and meet many conservative brilliant thinkers and speakers such as Victor Davis Hanson, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Molly Hemingway, and Charles Krauthammer to name a few. There are so many more brilliant thinkers on the "right" side whom provide thoughtful commentary providing fodder for all of us to expand our minds.

Can you name any esteemed thinkers from the left? I cannot and would guess that you probably are not able to either.
