Our Constitution Was Made For A Moral and Religious People
President John Adams said in 1798, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people."
That is, religious and moral people will preserve liberty, the Constitution, and the Republic through the understanding that their rights come from God the Creator. President Adams had earlier written that "a republic would endure provided it had eternal morals," meaning unchanging morals. He also said that the "right to freedom is the gift of God Almighty." The Constitution would be the long term guarantor of our freedoms as American people if by and large we are guided by absolute moral standards; not ones that shift with political correctness and moral relativism. Religion is the source of moral instruction for most. Absent religion many people will choose immorality and irresponsibility.
So now in the present time, we might ask ourselves: Are we fulfilling our responsibility to be a moral and religious people? Have we abandoned the moral foundations of our freedoms? What comes to my mind in particular is a Russian dissident and former KGB agent, Yuri Bezmenov, who wrote about demoralization in the United States. He defected to the United States in 1970. In a video (find below), Mr. Bezmenov explains there are four stages a nation has to undergo in order to be subverted. He said these favorable conditions are listed in any Marxist textbook of revolutionary struggle; and, the first stage is called demoralization. In 1985, Mr. Bezmenov believed the demoralization process had already been completed and over fulfilled in the United States. He said, "Marxism-Leninism ideology has been pumped into the soft heads of at least three generations of American students, without being challenged or counter-balanced by the basic values of American patriotism." He believed that for the most part this has been done by Americans to Americans thanks to the lack of moral standards.
We can clearly see immorality all around us; bold lies by our government leaders; slander; fabricating crimes; overlooking crimes; massive lies abound; making laws to normalize and justify sins; etc. There are all kinds of perversity all around us. This is all against Biblical teaching and our nation's religious heritage. God does have a value system and our society is morally upside down.
The last stage of the Marxist subversion process is called normalization. This is where the populace begins to accept and assimilate into communism. Recent polls show there is a steady increase in support for socialism and communism among young adults.
One of the many things American patriots must do to save the Republic is to expose the lies, defend truth, and teach morality in our own spheres. ("The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke)
