August President's Message
Hello to all. I am sorry I was not able to be with you for the July 12th general meeting but you were in excellent hands with Arlene Stassinos at the Podium with each of our very able board members there to be of assistance.
The days seem to be flying by and it will very soon be August 2nd, primary day. I am overwhelmed by the response of our primary members and associate members that have turned out to work at early voting centers and as poll watchers. We also have so many of our members and associates who will also be working on election day at various polling locations. Thank you to each of you for volunteering for these very important roles. This type of participation in our voting process is invaluable in ensuring the integrity of our elections.
Since last September our club has invited at least two, and some months more than two, candidates to speak to and meet our members. There are many outstanding men and women running for election this year in each of the major races for Governor, U.S. Senator, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Corporation Commission and Superintendent of Public Instruction in Arizona, congressional seats and state legislative seats in both houses. Regardless of whom you vote for, we owe a debt of thanks to each of these individuals who have taken more than a year of their lives to run for election at this most important time in our history.
Early voting began July 6 and ends Friday, July 29 at 4:30 pm. There are six early voting locations in Pinal County: Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Coolidge, Florence, Maricopa, and San Tan Valley. You may also drop off your mail-in ballots at each of those locations or mail them through the US mail.
Speaking of elections, it is time for members to consider joining the Board of Directors for the 2023 – 2024 term. At this time, with two exceptions, the current officers have indicated they would like to run for re-election. Kathy Leaman is currently serving as the 3rd VP – Ways & Means and acting Treasurer. The Recording Secretary position is also open. Kathy will run for Treasurer leaving a vacancy for 3rd VP Ways & Means. Also our Recording Secretary will not be returning to that position.
Your elected officers are President, 1st VP – Program, 2nd VP – Membership, 3rd VP – Ways & Means, Recording Secretary and Treasurer. Officers may serve no more than two terms in any one position.
All primary member in good standing, interested in running for a position, should contact members of the nominating committee to let them know of your interest in running.
Be sure to join us on Tuesday, August 16th, for a viewing of Dinesh D'Souza's documentary of the Democrat's use of "2000 Mules" to pack voter drop boxes with illicit ballots as part of the "Big Steal of 2020". Even if you have already seen the film, come out and view it again with your fellow members and friends. We will be offering popcorn to enjoy while watching the film.
Thank you for all you do.
Kaye Feller, President
