I grew up in a small town in a rural county in Washington state where I became involved in the Republican party politics before I could vote, serving as the vice chairman of the county’s Republican Party during the Nixon – Humphrey – Wallace presidential race. In those days, Washington was still a “red” state.
In 1976 I left my beloved Washington state and moved to the formerly golden state of California, settling in Los Angeles with my husband Steve. I had taken a break from politics until Clinton was elected and in 1995 I led a major voter registration drive in Los Angeles CD 33, where we registered nearly 900 new Republicans, many of whom were former Democrats. It was at that time that I was first introduced to the Republican Women Federated and quickly joined.
In 2000 we relocated to Camarillo in Ventura County where I joined the Camarillo Republican Women Federated club but could not attend their daytime meetings until I retired in 2011. Once I retired I immediately began attending their monthly meetings and getting involved. I held several roles in the club before I was elected President of the Club in 2016 – 2017. This was one of the great honors in my political life and prepared me for the task of forming a new federated club in my adopted home of Queen Creek, AZ. With much help from our wonderful AzFRW board and the trust and love of 21 Republican ladies in our community we began our journey with the Federation. Our new club, Queen Creek – San Tan Valley RWF was chartered October 5, 2020 with 22 members. Eight months later we are at 65+ members and growing. It has been an exciting and rewarding journey with these wonderful ladies.
I am a lifelong Republican knowing early in my life that I was privileged to be living in the greatest country in the world.
